These are representative of Mayer's large-scale sacred work. Only one of the paintings (To Prepare a Place For You) is currently housed in a place of worship. The remainder belong to Bethany Lutheran College and private collectors. The crucifix is a 10' replica of a crucifix by Giotto, which was made for a theater production. It is constructed of pine wood and painted with acrylic and metal leaf. The drawing is in pencil, and the rest of the works shown here are oil on canvas.
